DESIGN SERVICES
INTRODUCTION
We have detailed below the design services Back To Front Exterior Design offer. Each client's requirements and property is different and accordingly we are happy to provide you with a quotation by Email for your design brief.
SITE VISIT AND RE-MODELLING DESIGN SERVICE
Initially, in order to provide a quote we need some clear photos and a brief outline of what you hope to achieve. We will reply by email and detail our service and quote you. Once this has been accepted, the process starts by an appointment to visit you at the property to discuss design preferences, the potential of the property, timing etc. At the design meeting we will take photographs and do a brief survey of the house and from the information gained at this visit we produce initial design sketches and seek your feedback on them. Depending on your thoughts we work up the design into two A3 perspective colour concept visuals for each elevation, one with notations and one plain (mounted on board). These visuals illustrate the potential that we can see in your house so that you can see it too. They are invaluable for showing to neighbours, planners, builders etc. N.B. Visuals should not be used as a basis for construction. In addition we produce a "materials book" giving suppliers details and colour pic's of relevant products proposed in the re-modelling designs. We allow four hours for the design visit including travel. Standard quotes are based on clients being based within one hour travel time of Farnham(+ or -)and a two hour design meeting. We will travel anywhere and will quote as appropriate. Additional time in the visit/travel is charged at our hourly rate @ £90.00 PH. Where flights, car hire, airport parking, and hotel accomodation is involved we charge these at cost in advance.
POSTAL DESIGN SERVICE
This service is ideal for clients beyond economic travelling distance of Farnham, Surrey, where we are based. Good colour photos (prints or good email jpg attachments with a clear unobstructed view of the elevations concerned) are necessary and a summary of your requirements.
Your photos will form the basis of A3 size perspective colour concept-visuals of the elevations to be re-designed. Two colour visuals are produced of each elevation, one with notations (giving brief detail of individual suggested design changes)and one plain and mounted. These visuals will give you a realistic picture in perspective, of how your house could look. We also provide a materials book, detailing the products and materials suggested in the re-design. NB. Visuals should not be used as a basis for construction.
Please note that each elevation will require a separate visual, as it is not possible to draw the front and rear of a property on the same drawing. NB We can not provide design visuals to include extensions that are not yet built, unless you have scale elevation drawings available for our use.
We will quote by email for this service once we have received pictures of the house and your brief outline of what you are hoping to achieve.
DESIGN & PLANNING SERVICE
If planning permission is required for extensions and re-modelling, the full design and planning service includes the remodelling service (described above). A measured survey of the plot, plan and all elevations will be undertaken unless an up to date survey is available for our use. After a process of consultation with you we submit draft options for your consideration. We will fine-tune as necessary and work up planning drawings, which are submitted to your local planning authority when you are happy with the scheme. We also include A3 colour concept perspective visuals with planning applications, which help planning officers see what we are setting out to achieve. In addition we produce a materials book giving you the suppliers details and colour pic's of relevant materials, colour combinations and products proposed in the scheme. Our fee for this service depends on the scope and complexity of the design brief and we will be happy provide quotations by email once we have seen photographs of the house and discussed your requirements.
BUILDING REGULATIONS, STRUCTURAL CALCULATIONS, SPECIFICATION, TENDERING, SUPERVISION
These services are quoted according to the scope of your project and may be subject to the location of the property.

This service is available by appointment for prospective clients who would like to discuss their property or a property they are considering purchasing. Also for clients who have had a Back To Front Design and Planning scheme approved and wish to discuss detailing for the scheme. Charged @ £90.00 + VAT per hour.

If you would like to use our design services, to help us deal with your enquiry please follow these simple steps:
- Take several photos of your house and the elevation/s in question
- When doing this please remember that we have not seen your house and a picture tells a thousand words. Stand back and try to capture each elevation in one photo but if this is proving difficult take several photos carefully from one position.
- If the house is an urban location please also take a picture of your neighbours either side of you, this will help us to understand how much space there is and your streetscape.
- Attach these images (jpegs) to an email or alternatively post prints to us. (please keep the size of each email to 1MB maximum).
- In the email please write your 'wish list' of what you are hoping to achieve.
- When we have received your photos and information we will look at the possibilities and then make contact and discuss it with you before quoting.
- Please include your address and contact phone and email details so that we can contact you to discuss the project.
