Over the
years we have been designing refurbishments for architecturally challenged
homes and have found that windows and doors play a vital part. In fact, most of
our design projects have led us to recommend the installation of carefully
designed replacement or new-build bespoke windows. This is because existing
windows are often very ugly due to the badly-proportioned geometry of their
design. Also sometimes due to the use of thick, ungainly uPVC frames.
In April 2002 new building regulations came into force (listed buildings and
conservation areas are usually exempt) requiring that windows and doors meet
thermal heat-loss values (known as U values) and fire-escape requirements. The
most common way to achieve this is with double glazed sealed units and
draught/weather sealing. These windows with low 'U' values are known as
"high-performance". We have found that there is an abundance of these on the
market but they often sacrifice aesthetics and are usually not attractive,
especially if you are trying to replicate slim glazing bars and traditional
features, to give the window character.
We have spent many years
researching the market for manufacturers who can supply and install top quality
bespoke windows which have been fully factory finished and glazed. With careful
attention to detail, good looks can now be combined with high
thermal-performance, safety and security.
We design, supply and install
all types of timber, contemporary Aluminium, natural Oak windows, front and
back doors, bi-folding doors, matching windows and joinery. All the windows and
doors illustrated comply with Part L Building Regulations.
We offer a
window and door design service to address all these issues and also colour
co-ordination for clients, who would like to achieve a more subtle effect
between the windows & doors and the elevations, along with a choice of
window and door furniture. All these windows can be viewed at our Farnham
showroom.
